Musician

On June 23, the Iranian-born virtuoso Hamidreza will introduce the audience to the 8,000-year-old Persian instrument, the daf. Some say its name originated in India, other roots are looking for Iran. Be as it may, this instrument is over 8000 years old. Over 8000 years! Its country of origin is Iran. What exactly does the word "daf" mean? In the Persian it is "sound".

When I started learning Daf, I experienced a change. I was very shy in nature. I mastered the instrument, but myself I was hiding. You can imagine how a beautiful man refuses to play. Dafs helped me a lot. Not just in music alone. Ability to offer something to people, talk to them, give them energy. As the daf game progressed, the instrument started talking to me. There was a dialogue between us. Both on stage and before the start, when I kiss it and ask - to grow old with me, help me, play the crowd. I'm not going to play. You play by guiding my hand. Do what you have to do. I will just listen. So I ask you ... And the instrument always made me give the perfect performance.

I have performed in different countries, Turkey, Africa, Germany, England, France, Holland, Russia, Spain, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, Belgium, Australia. I also played sufi music because Sufism is part of my life. I came to Latvia in 2012 to play music in Latvia and sing. And from 2014, I started living in Latvia and in fact Latvia is My Second Motherland. And now I'm a DAGAMBA percussionist in Latvia. Glad to participate in the Būtība Festival this year! See you soon!
