Within it’s concert programme, festival “Būtība” welcomes voice improvisation artist Dana Indāne –
Surkienė, presenting authentic voice improvisations, poetry from the time of pregnancy together with
nature sounds from the field recordings made by Maksims Šenteļevs as in their latest music album –
“Songs of Mother and Field” (“Gaidību dziesmas”, 2021).
“Songs of Mother and Field” uncover the fragile enchantment of an
expectant mother addressing her child in a gentle, subtle sequence of
songs that are sung in a universal tongue of primordial love. A mother’s voice is strengthened by the
sound of natural wilderness, uncovering a feeling of omnipresence deep within. With a devout
documentary approach, nine “field sound tales” reveal meditative vocal improvisations recorded during
pregnancy. The album combines the voice of Latvian born, Lithuania based free improvisation artist Dana
Indane-Surkiene and field recordings of sound artist Maksims Shentelevs.
In this solo programme Dana Indāne – Surkienė will guide audience towards soul space where inner child
is met by a loving and present parent. This will be a time for relaxing, resting and integrating experiences,
gained during festival’s workshops and rituals.
Workshop “Voice Poetry” at festival BUTIBA.
Silence. Peace. Breath.
Deep, true listening in your own and the world’s space.
The source from which authentic communication art is born – the first sound and voice. Your proof of life and presence to the world.
A touch for yourself and your loved one – with a voice, a caress, a song.
Free movement for life – power in fire, earth, air and water.
Dance of breath and voice as a song of song for the world, inner freedom and love.
The workshop “Voice Poetry” will be like a nursery for the flower of the soul – time and space for the flower of the inner space to grow, flourish and give its smell and beauty to the world. A safe and peaceful place where we will each create our own poetry of the soul of the moment – through breath, movement and voice.
